About AAMA

For more than 36 years, American Academies of Martial Arts has been a cornerstone of the Bellevue community — teaching Kung Fu and martial arts that build strong bodies, sharp minds, and better people. We welcome every age, every skill level, and every ability, and we're proud to be the kind of place families call a second home.

Sifu Mark Goblowsky

With a passion for helping community members stay safe while teaching the "art" of martial arts, our Master Instructor believes each student can reach their goals and objectives in life. While teaching techniques that save lives — and life skills that work both on and off the mat — our students get the best instruction possible in Bellevue, NE.

From Chaos to Peaceful Warrior

Sifu Mark Goblowsky grew up in Northeast Ohio in a home filled with unpredictable violence. Living with that daily fear and uncertainty sparked an absolute hatred of violence — and a need to remove it from his life.

As a child, he loved the Kung Fu television series and dreamed of being a peaceful warrior like the one he saw on the show. He believed it would let him take control of the chaos around him and bring some peace to his life.

After joining the Air Force, he finally got his chance at 26 years old, studying Kung Fu while stationed in Korea. He fell in love with it and became a deeply dedicated student. When it was time to return to the United States, his instructor asked if he would open a school teaching his Korean style of Kung Fu. He agreed — and that's when American Academies of Martial Arts was born.

When his son Josh was born, he soon developed his own love of Kung Fu — as a toddler, he crawled across the mat to practice weapons, kicks, and punches. In 2005, at just three and a half years old, Josh was severely injured in a hit-and-run accident involving two semi trucks, an event that dramatically altered his life. Josh fought for his life and came out of that battle a very different child than the one who entered it. The one thing that never changed was his love for Kung Fu. Together, Mark and Josh use Kung Fu to overcome the obstacles life puts in their way.
